Chrisette first came onto the scene performing on Jay-Z’s “Lost Ones” and Nas’”Can’t Forget About You” before releasing her debut album, I Am. Performing a string of from the critically acclaimed album, Chrisette enthralled the crowd who’d braved the heat on the long line outside only to be faced with more heat in barely there airconditioning in the standing room only venue. All that aside, Chrisette put on a great show.
Donning a white shirt, gray vest, silver accessories and a faux hawk, she started her set off with the uptempo “Let’s Rock”. The set list included songs off I Am, a beautifully telling album that follows the coming of age of a young woman, and soul hits like Reflection and Ain’t No Mountain by Diana Ross. The Will.I.Am produced “Be Ok” finds Chrisette hitting the town after a break up, she has no time to sit around and mourn what’s been lost. “Best of Me” continues where “Be Ok” leaves off, with a young woman seeking to find the best in herself after a relationship gone bad. In “Golden,” a soulful ballad, Chrisette seeks relationship similar to the days of yore, when “commitment was golden.” Chrisette ended the show with a performance of “Good Girl” an anthem in which Chrisette proclaims “I’m a Lady” and she’s looking for a guy that is willing to do more than buy nice things, he’s got to put in work to be with her.
“Good Girl”
Live @ The Fillmore NY
For an hour Chrisette belted out her songs sounding just as good she does on the album. That’s not an easy feat as many of todays artists have so much over produced vocals that what you hear in person is nowhere near what you hear on the waxed version. She even played the piano.
Chrisette Michele’s tour with Raheem DeVaugh and Solange Knowles still has a few more stops to make across the U.S. Make sure you check it out. And if you haven’t already bought it, pick up a copy of her album I Am today. Chrisette Michele is O So Chic !

I LOVE HER! Saw the concert in Hollywood, CA… A-MA-ZING. Great review!
