Chic Trends | Hippie Headbands

Are hippie headbands the current it fashion accessory? This Summer, peep-toe booties, python accessories and gladiator sandals have become wardrobe must-haves for trendy women. Recently, fashion forward celebrities have been seen sporting hippie headbands. Can this 1960s throwback really be the next chic trend?

When Stephanie Pratt donned a hippie headband on Season 3 of The Hills, the accessory became the talk of the fashion blogosphere. Some people loved it. Blogs and message boards were filled with readers wanting to find out where they could get one. Others hated it. “What was She-Pratt wearing?!?!?” they asked. Last night Monica (pictured above) wore a braided American Apparel belt as a hippie headband to dinner. Her outfit gave me inspiration for today’s post. (Thankfully she came to dinner because as I texted Melanie O. last night, I had NO CLUE what today’s post should be about).

Along with Stephanie Pratt, fashionistas Molly Simms, Angela Simmons, Aubrey O’Day, Ashlee Simpson, and even young Lourdes Leon (Madonna’s daughter) have been spotted wearing the hippie-style head accessory.

For those of you daring enough to try it out, Urban Outfitters has hippie headbands for sale. For the fashion and cost conscious, get the American Apparel rope belt like Monica’s, so even after the hippie headband trend fades, you can still use it as a belt.
