Acrylic tips? French manicure? Marble design? Airbrushing? This Summer, add a little extra to any outfit with a well manicured hand. And the style of the season is a bright, bold polish.
Last year black was the must have polish color for fashionistas across the country. This Summer, it’s all about bright colors. Fashion forward Rihanna has been rocking lots of bright colors lately. At this years Grammy awards, she accented her blue Zac Posen dress with orange polish. She’s also dressed her digits up in green polish. Globetrotter Beyonce has been spotted wearing yellow polish in Nice and Switzerland.
While the French manicure will always be a classic, this Summer be a little daring and try out a neon shade. If the thought of having neon finger nails is too jarring, or if you work in a more conservative office, use a subtle color on your fingers and go for the gusto on your toes.
Since bold colors make enough of a statement on their own, when following this trend, less is definitely more. Keep nails at a shorter length, and opt out of extravangant hand designs or airbrushing.
Brands like OPI, essie, and even Chanel have released Summer lines with bold colors for you to choose from. Each brand has a palette that includes pink, orange, yellow, and purple so, you can’t go wrong with any of those four colors. During your next trip to the nail salon, go as bright as you dare when choosing a polish. It’ll add an extra something to any outfit.
Chanel, Robertson Exclusive in: LA Sunrise, Melrose, Rodeo Drive, and LA Sunset, $25(Chanel.com)
OPI, Mod About Brights in: Dating A Royal, The “It” Color, That’s Hot! Pink, Brights Power, Mod-ern Girl, and Green-wich Village (Opi.com)
essie, Neon Collection in: Shorty Pants, Short Shorts, Mini Shorts, and Bermuda Shorts, $8 each (essie.com)
Feel free to mix it up with a different color during every visit to the nail salon. But, if you find one that really matches your skin tone, stick with it. My favorite color this season is Explosive by the bargain brand Color Club. I take it off, and put it back on. If you’re a do-it-yourself kind of girl, be sure to put on a base coat before adding your color, and seal it all in with a top coat for an O So Chic look.

I figured that was coming back. But didn’t you see Lil’ Mo’s nails in her video, “Sumtimes I”?
Gorgeous, I love Essie so much! they have the best colors. Rihanna looks good.
