Last Thursday, O So Chic ! ventured out to Steve Madden on the Lower East Side for the Little Jackie performance.
The Pop/R&B/Alternative duo consisting of Imani Coppola (singer/songwriter) and Adam Pallin (programmer), performed in the second installment of the Steve Madden Music series. Steve Madden himself was at the show.
Before the “intimate performance” began, guests were treated to Lillet cocktails, Steve Madden water and music courtesy of DJ Reborn. Once the show was underway, Little Jackie performed a few songs from their debut album, The Stoop. In the lead single The World Should Revolve Around Me, Imani admits that she’s not “equipped” for relationships. Go Hard or Go Home describes the good, bad and ugly sides of family matters, and the title track pays homage to Imani’s hood – Bedford Stuyvesant – Brooklyn.
Onstage, Ms. Coppola exuded an engaging nonchalance that complemented the intimate setting. After the acoustic set, Little Jackie was ready to mingle, but fans requested an encore. The group obliged and performed Guys Like When Girls Kiss a song about the mantra “men are from Mars, women are from Venus.”
Good music, fashionable surroundings and an eclectic crowd made for another great evening on NYC’s Lower East Side.
. . . and what an O So Chic ! time it was.
