I’ve been receiving invitations to “End of the Summer” events and today is only the 5th of August!!! How distressing! To defy this end of the summer sentiment that is plaguing my inbox, I’ve decided to showcase electrifying NEON hues today!
The 80s through the early 90s was a period of bold fashion statements. I remember epitomizing Pre-K Chic in my purple leggings and green rimmed wayfarers. Parachute / hammer pants and biker shorts coexisted, acid washed jeans were “dos” and NEON was at the forefront. Not only was neon in clothes, shoes and accessories, the top toy of that era was Lite Brite!
A throwback to the 80s is always a daring fashion move, especially the ode to neon. Recently, Melissa L. wrote about the bright nail polishes by OPI and Essie that have become all the rage. MAC released collections that boasted bright, pigmented makeup and the runways for Spring/Summer 2008 Fashion Weeks were saturated in eye-popping shades.

Little Miss Sunshine, Rihanna, was radiant in the yellow Giambattista Valli gown at the 2008 BET Awards.
Solange Knowles is quite the fashionista on the streets of London in an orange wrap dress accessorized with complimentary blues courtesy of a Baulotto Grande Fendi bag & Louboutin pumps (not pictured).
