Steve Madden Music: Jazmine Sullivan in NYC

Last night, O So Chic headed out to NYC’s Lower East Side for the 4th installment of the Steve Madden Music series. As you may recall, we went to Steve Madden back in July to see Little Jackie perform. The featured performer last night was Jazmine Sullivan. You can check out the post O So Chic did on the R&B/Soul artist a few months back – here. Jazmine definitely has a lot of supporters as the line for Steve Madden stretched along Rivington Street. While the crowd anxiously waited, the Fearless sampler was distributed, pictures were taken and interviews took place. By 7:30, the Steve Madden store was at capacity and people were forced to watch from the storefront. As the crowd waited for the performance to commence, they listened to the tunes of dj. shErOck* & sipped on complimentary Tanqueray cocktails and Steve Madden water.

When Jazmine finally came out, she was met by an extremely hyped audience. Before she began, Jazmine asked the crowd if they had already bought the album and made us promise that we would if we hadn’t done so. She performed “Bust Your Windows,” “One Night Stand,” & her #1 hit, “Need You Bad.” Albeit a short performance, Jazmine had great energy and stage presence. With her powerhouse vocals, the minor mic difficulties seemed negligible. The audience participation came naturally as people sang along to songs in their entirety. Some demanded an “encore” but with a brand new album to promote and other appearances to fulfill, that request didn’t come to fruition.

Not only did Jazmine Sullivan executive produce Fearless, she is also the sole songwriter on the album. The album, featuring production from Missy Elliot, is in stores now and is definitely a must have!
