Something for the Fellas: Benjamin Bixby

Rapper-actor André 3000 Benjamin has joined the growing ranks of celebrity designers. André, 1/2 of the rap duo OutKast, debuted his men’s line, Benjamin Bixby last month during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week festivities. How did the name Benjamin Bixby come about? Well, Bixby is actually the alias he used when he was set up on MTVs Punk’d. The line, inspired by collegiate football players of the 1930s, includes an array of separates from “Paddington” coats to tailored vests. The Benjamin Bixby line is a manifestation of André’s dapper & preppy sense of style.

The creative direction of the line shouldn’t at all be surprising. Mr. Benjamin, Esquire’s Best Dressed Man of 2004, has achieved style icon status. His ability to successfully unite the classic and the eclectic has always been his forte, an idea he expresses in the Bixby tagline “that rebel spirit in us all.” His unique fashion sense has afforded him the honor of appearing on Vanity Fair’s International Best Dressed List of 2005 and being crowned PETA’s “World’s Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity” in 2004.
