Chic and the City: J. Holiday Live at SOBs

Few women can resist a guy with a great singing voice. That explains the ear piercing shrieks that filled the air as R&B crooner J. Holiday performed live at SOBs in New York City. The Grammy award nominee treated the full crowd to old hits, a sneak preview of songs from his new album, and a peek at his abs – much to delight of his female fans.

The D.C. native is all set to release his sophomore album, Round 2, on March 10th. Holiday sang the lead single “It’s Yours” as well as “Fall,” “Make that Sound,” and “Sing 2 You.” But it was his performance of his hit song “Suffocate” that really set the crowd off. The screams and whistles were near deafening.

Holiday, who was accompanied by a live band, was on a mission to prove to the crowd that he could sing. Mission accomplished. His performance of fan favorites like “Fatal,” off the Grammy nominated album Back of My Lac, sounded just as good live as it does on the CD – no small feat at a time when many artists have to rely on pre-recorded tracks and lipsync during live shows.

The hourlong set ended with a performance of the smash hit “Bed,” remixed with a bit Ginuwine’s “Pony” and even a little of Souljaboy Tellem’s “Superman,” before Holiday sent the crowd out into the world with his love.
