The jumpsuit. Love it? Hate it? This all-in-one style is an entire outfit in one piece, and was a big trend on last year’s red carpets. The style also made its way down many a runway during the Spring 2009 fashion shows, so the it is likely to stick around for at least one more season. Will you get on board the jumpsuit train, or is this one trend better left on the runway?
From New York to Hollywood, the jumpsuit seemed to be a favorite amongst fashion houses and fashionable starlets. Many designers, 
including Ralph Lauren, BCBG, DSquared and Proenza Schuler sent at least one jumpsuit down the runway during their Spring 09 collections. And from the black structured silhouette Rihanna rocked, the flowy floral print Missoni seen on Kerry Washington, to the disco inspired sparkle fabric Chanel number donned by Malin Akerman, and the strapless Michael Kors worn by Jennifer Hudson, the jumpsuit was a red carpet event favorite.
The jumpsuit’s little sister the romper, a short version, was also a big hit on the runway, but can be hard to pull off. The long pant version comes in various shapes, making it easier to find a jumpsuit to suit your shape. Whether you chose a deep v-neck, a bandeau top, or wide leg pants, the jumpsuit is a great alternative to wearing a dress, and is an easy way to achieve that evening glam look in one piece. The holidays may be over, but we know you ladies still have lots of place to go, and many chic affairs to attend. Will you trade your dress for a jumpsuit for your next night out?
