Thrillist’s Jam’n in the Sky Celebrating Jet Blue’s Newest Route – Jamaica

Yesterday, O So Chic headed out for a night on the town along NYC’s Hudson River. Yes. It is Fleet Week, but we didn’t go to say hello to the sailors. Instead, we arrived at Hudson Terrace for Thrillist’s – JAM’N IN THE SKY event.

Thrillist threw a party to celebrate Jet Blue’s new non-stop service to Jamaica, which begins today, May 21st. Apparently, everyone and their mother (seriously!) RSVPd for this event because 30 minutes into the party, the line stretched along 46th street and we heard those dreadful words “We’re at capacity.” Luckily we were able to get in & enjoy the festivities (Thanks Flavie!)

Thrillist, Jet Blue & the Jamaica Tourist Board took over the 2nd floor of Hudson Terrace. Inside, live music from Mojo Morgan (Morgan Heritage member), Kevin Batchelor (not Bachelor) & The Skatalites kept the crowd on their feet. The Myers Rum & Red Stripe open bar helped with that too ;-). Trumpets, drums, bass guitars & singing gave life to the ska, rocksteady & reggae that served as the playlist for Jam’n in the Sky. The backdrop for the performances was a slideshow of images highlighting Jamaica’s tourism.

Outside on the terrace, partygoers mingled and enjoyed the food provided by Golden Krust Bakery. Although the event was supposed to end at 10, people continued to dance, drink & eat for an additional half an hour. Of course, they didn’t let us leave empty-handed. Jet Blue put together gift bags that provided guests with items needed for their next trip to Montego Bay – via Jet Blue of course.

Good music & food, a sociable crowd & perfect weather made Jam’n in the Sky an O So Chic start to the Memorial Day Weekend fun!

Wasn’t Hudson a great venue? I loved the party I went to there with the rooftop and terrace. I think they do public events during the week…
