Fall Nail Trends | Shades of Jade

Soon after the Chanel Fall 2009 fashion show took place, a frenzy began. Beauty lovers wanted to know all about the pale green color on the models’ nails, quite a departure from the usually deep hues for Fall. The color was Jade by Chanel les Vernis and the limited edition color would not be available until Fashion’s Night Out.

Jade soon made its way to the Hollywood set and fashionistas began wearing jade nail polish on the red carpet. Rachel Bilson and Leigh Lezark donned the shade, fittingly, at the premiere of “Coco Before Chanel,” and MTV personality/fashionista Alexa Chung wore the color during Fashion’s Night Out festivities. Each of the ladies wore the shade with a black dress and heels. If you’re planning to test the shade out, take a cue from Bilson, Chung and Lezark and wear a black ensemble, or at the very least a black clutch. The light hue really pops against a dark canvas.

Chanel Jade sold out quickly, but you can probably find it on Ebay (for an inflated price).  Mint Candy Apple, part of Essie’s Winter Collection, is another pretty shade of jade, but like the Chanel polish, it’s a limited edition color, so don’t wait to long if you want to get this color on your digits. You can also find similar shades from Orly, OPI and Ilamasqua.
Chanel Jade – originally $25 (Ebay.com); Orly Mint Mojito, $7.50 (OrlyBeauty.com); OPI Go On Green, $8.50 (AveYou.com); Illamasqua Milf, $14 (Sephora.com); Essie Mint Candy Apple, $8 (Essie.com)
