Fashion Week | Christian Cota Fall 2010: Fashion as Art

“You’ve got fashion and style,” the first line of Ryan Leslie’s My Addiction, comes to mind when thinking of Christian Cota’s Fall 2010 presentation. Not only were the clothes well crafted, but from the ombre wigs down to the booties provided by Aldo shoes, the models at Christian Cota’s Fall presentation were impeccably styled.

Cota’s designs, inspired the Cubist movement, were art forms themselves. The designer used various techniques to achieve the look of his Fall 2010 collection. Squares were knit together to create an oversized vest, wool was folded over to add dimension to the bodice of a strapless dress, fabrics were handpainted, and many pieces were draped into shape – all in rich colors such as crimson, copper, and purple.

This was easily one of my favorite collections of the season. I even caught Anna Wintour checking it out. Look at that face. Think she was impressed? I sure was.
