China Glaze Crackle Glaze Nail Lacquer Review – Pics, Vid & Tutorial

Have you been looking for a new nail design that’s creative, wallet-friendly and simple to do? Crackle nail polish may be your best bet! You don’t need a nail technician’s license or a steady hand to get the cracked look.

China Glaze Crackle Glaze Nail Polish Collection

Fault Line, Cracked Concrete, Broken Hearted

Your favorite nail polish companies are making it easy for you to DIY. OPI has the Black Shatter polish while China Glaze has the Crackle Glaze Collection – available in 6 different shades. Once my China Glaze Crackle Glaze Collection arrived, I immediately began testing out the colors. My mom and cousin were my first “clients” and my cousin is the “Cracked Concrete” hand model below lol. What I like about China Glaze Crackle is the imperfect look of the crackling and how each nail has a different pattern.

1. Apply any colored base coat. (this is the color that was show through the crackle polish)
2. Let the base color dry.
3. Apply a coat of the crackle polish. (Work quickly! Drying & crackling occur almost immediately.)
4. Let the crackle coat dry.
5. Add a top coat to seal in the color and give your nails some shine. (The crackle polishes are matte)
6. Have a bottle of nail polish remover & cotton swabs handy to clean up the edges. Sometimes you’ll have to redo the nails that didn’t quite produce the desired effect.

In my experience, when the coat of crackle polish was heavy, there was limited crackling. A light hand and and light coat will give you the full effect. Depending on the direction of the polish strokes, you can get pretty cool crackle effects. When I used diagonal, “interrupted” strokes, my nails resembled more of an abstract, marbled pattern than a crackle. Different strokes for different folks! You aren’t limited to China Glaze base colors either. Any nail polish color or brand will work under crackle polish!
