Pantene Pro-V Relaxed & Natural Dry to Moisturized | Review

No matter what hair texture you have, finding the right hair care products can be a daunting task. People with fine hair want volume, and those with thick, dry hair want moisture and manageability. My hair is coarse, dry, and needs to be moisturized (wait – did that rhyme?!)

pantene relaxed and natural shampoo conditioner aa bliss

That’s where the Pantene Pro-V Relaxed & Natural line comes in. I used Pantene’s Relaxed and Natural back in college and now, some odd years later, I’m giving it a whirl again.

Name: Pantene Pro-V Relaxed & Natural – Dry to Moisturized

What it’s supposed to do: Pantene Pro-V Relaxed & Natural Dry to Moisturized Shampoo & Conditioner cleanse & condition African-American hair without leaving hair overly dry. Relaxed & Natural has moisturizing ingredients that give relaxed & natural hair shine and protect the hair against damage.

Scent: Both the shampoo & conditioner have a nice scent. It’s mild yet fragrant enough for anyone to get a whiff of clean hair when they hug you.

Results: My hair felt so soft. In my experience, products said to be made for dry, coarse hair left my hair feeling drier and stringy (weird huh?), OR weighed down and lifeless. With the Dry to Moisturized Shampoo & Conditioner, the results were the happy medium. My hair felt as supple with the lather as it did once rinsed and dried. It’s as if the right amount of oils (jojoba and coconut) stayed on my hair once the shampoo and conditioner were rinsed out. This “moisture lock” of sorts is so important for hair as dry as mine, as it protects it from breakage and leaves hair looking healthier.

Coincidentally, I was speaking to a friend last night about everything under the sun and of course – hair came up. She mentioned that Pantene’s Relaxed & Natural – Dry to Moisturized has been her go-to product line for her coarse, dry, and extremely thick natural hair. So there you have it!

What is your hair care regimen? Are you a wash with anything and go person? Hair product junkie? Loyal to one line of products? Pantene Pro-V user? Let us know!

  1. I have fine curly natural hair and I swear by TRESemme Flawless Curls Conditioner. When I just want to wash and go this conditioner makes it possible. I don’t get dry puffy afro by the end of the day which makes me happy.

I also use Garnier Fructis wave enhancing spray for the gym days because after a long work out the last thing I want to do is wash and blow dry my hair.

  2. I’m always on the go and need my hair to look RIGHT so I head to the salon early every Sunday, if time permits. I’m a loyalist so I grab my favorite shampoo and conditioner (Mizani) before I head out!

  3. Ok, so I have thick curly hair but I do have a hair regiment. When I go to the salon I bring my Carol’s Daughter Tui shampoo and Tui hair smoothie conditioner. I got a sample of this product from work and now I’m hooked and alway buy it. Helps keep my hair moisturized because I was beginning to feel like the products at my salon wasn’t cutting it.

Now for when I have to do my hair at home when I’m not using my CD products I’m using Garrnier Fructis. My friends introduced me to their styling products in college to help maintain my natural curls and the shampoo I previously used (Infusium 23 also a reco from my college roommate) for some reason I saw less and less of it on the shelves so I decided to experiment with Garnier’s shampoos. What I like about them is how clean my hair feels and smells after washing plus its also very light. I use the Triple Nutrition line (shampoo, conditioner, and dryness reversal treatment) because my hair can get dry easy so I like my products to add as much moisturize as possible. Also I like that Garnier has travel size products which is what led me to try them. I think if Pantene had travel size for the Relaxed and Natural (a product also in my house but mostly used by my mother) I’d consider using it more.

  4. I change my shampoos like I change my nail polish lol. I’m not loyal to any particular brand or system but I’m always looking for something that gets the job done! Relaxed & natural will be added to my to do list.

  5. I don’t use shampoo in my hair anymore. I “co-wash” which is washing my hair with conditioner. I do that weekly and once a month or so, I go to the salon for a deep treatment and a blow out.

  6. For years, I spent my Saturday mornings at the hair salon. I’d get there by 7:50 to be one of the first people for a wash, set and wrap when the shop opened at 8 AM.

I don’t wake up quite so early anymore, but when I need a wash, I go to the salon and let the stylists works their magic. My favorite part is when they shampoo my hair with tea tree shampoo. I love the tingly feeling on my scalp.

  7. This sounds great! I don’t have a favorite shampoo or conditioner. I go to the salon every two weeks and let my hairdresser take care of my hair because when I wash it myself, I can’t deal with it afterwards. It’s usually too dry and thick for me to manage, and it seems as if my relaxer has just gone out the window. I can’t remember what product my hair dresser uses, but its formulated for women of color and only sold to licensed hair professionals. In the summer, I try to wash my hair in between salon visits. I will have to try this product. Thanks!

  8. Yeah….so my hair care regimen is to go to the hair dresser every two weeks and feel sorry for myself after having paid so much money. I have been trying to do my hair myself but have only gotten as far as trying to wrap my head around the idea :/ Yeah – need a product like this; my hair is natural.

  9. Seems like a lot of you ladies are in the salon every 2 weeks. I’m there 3-4x a year lol. So I JUST shampooed and conditioned my hair again with Relaxed & Natural and I’m air drying it. Yeeaaah I pretty much can’t stop running my fingers through my hair. I really don’t know why I stopped using these products when they first came out. You live and you learn.

  10. I’ve been using the relaxed & natural oil cream moisturizer along with Pantene’s medium thick hair solutions line. Good stuff.

  11. My hair is cut short and dyed red (like Rihanna’s second to last hair color) so I’m always concerned about my hair breaking off or losing its sheen. I go to the salon weekly and my stylist works his magic. I really should ask him what he uses.

  12. My current regime is to deep condition my hair once a week and wash/rinse with conditioner as necessary during the week to maintain my natural curls. I use a combination of products from Organic Root Stimulator, Aussie, Suave, Tresemme, Garnier and others. I have a ton of different styling tools (serum, heat protectant, mousse, gel, oils etc.) and am always looking to try something new so I will consider adding Pantene into the mix!
