CND Shellac manicures by Nail Gypsy

I love going to the spa, but as much as I enjoy getting pampered, sometimes it’s hard to find the time to do something as simple as getting a manicure. That’s why I jumped at the chance to try out Nail Gypsy, a New York based traveling mani-pedi company.

Nail artists Maria and Joi arrived at my house on Saturday afternoon with suitcases filled with everything they’d need to provide Melanie and me with salon quality service in the comfort of my home. The four of us gathered around my huge kitchen table, and got down to business.

The ladies filed and buffed our nails, pushed back our cuticles, massaged our hands with an exfoliating scrub and painted the CND Shellac lacquers on our nails. We listened to 90s hits courtesy of TLC’s Pandora station and chatted about pop culture. It reminded me of the days when my cousin and I would paint each others nails a different color every day of the summer, only our manicures were never as nice as the Nail Gypsy ones.

Dead Sea Mineral Mud Mask with essential oils

Once the polish was done, the ladies whipped up a Dead Sea Mineral Mud Detoxification mask for our hand treatments. Clay was mixed with drops of peppermint (for cooling), lavender (for calming) and German chamomile (for soothing). They brushed the mixture on to our hands, wrapped each one in plastic, and placed them in heated gloves for fifteen minutes.

At the end of the hour and a half long treatment, our skin was smooth and our digits looked divine. That I didn’t need to leave my house to get such great service was what made it even better.
