Time Saving Tips

O So Chic Time Saving Tips

24 hours in a day seems like a lot. Once you subtract your working and sleeping hours, however, it seems like 24 hours just isn’t enough to get things done.

As a blogger and graduate student with a healthy social life, maximizing those precious 24 hours is a daily challenge. Here are some of my tried & true time saving tips:

  • Lists, lists, lists: Whether I’m running errands or packing for a trip, I always make a list. Making a list keeps me focused on the task at hand. My “what to pack” list is categorized by day/night, types of shoes/clothes, and toiletries. Once packed, I check each item off the list which prevents me from worrying about forgetting anything.
  • Plan outfit in advance: Since I usually need to be out of the house by 7:30 am and don’t want to wake up too early, picking out my outfit the night before school saves time & lets me hit the snooze button at least once.
  • Productivity apps: I spend 3 hours+ on the train every day. With throngs of people on the train, it’s sometimes difficult to pull out a 1500 page casebook. Instead, I email digital copies of the work and read on my phone, during the long commute.
  • GPS/Navigation: I have lots of sense but sense of direction isn’t my forte. Thank goodness for my navigation system or I’d be lost and extremely late without it.
  • Holiday shopping — whenever!: If I see a potential gift while perusing the aisles in July, I’ll buy it. There’s no need to wait until November-December to buy gifts for people. Doing so earlier on saves time & energy during the holiday shopping rush.
  • DIY beauty maintenance: Many of my friends are in the salon every other week. While nothing feels better than having someone else massage your scalp, maintaining my hair at home has always been the natural thing for me to do. I can wash my hair when it’s convenient for me and multi-task while I’m deep-conditioning.
  • 5 minute face: Concealer (as needed) + setting powder + gold shadow in inner corner of eyes + 2 coats of mascara + blush = 5 minute face.
