How To: Reduce Worry in Your Life

Share

“Worry, worry, worry, worry, worry. Worry just will not seem to leave my mind alone.”

Just like the lyrics of that song, many of us get paralyzed by fear and worry, and where does it get us? Absolutely nowhere. You can’t live a chic life if you’re stuck in a worry rut. That’s why I’ve tried to implement some stress reducers in my daily life. The top three things I do to reduce worry are make a to-do list, catch up with friends and take a bubble bath.

Use a to-do list to keep track of assignments

I am a huge fun of to-do lists. At the end of each workday, I start a list of things that I did not get to complete and post it on my computer screen. When I get to work the next morning I already have a plan for the day. If other things come up, I add them to the list and prioritize in order of importance. Since I can be forgetful, having a plan ensures that I don’t miss an important deadline and I feel an enormous amount of satisfaction when I cross off a completed task.

Video chatting with my friends all across the country. The reindeer noses make everything funny.

Another thing I do to reduce worry is to talk to my friends – whether it’s in person, via text, telephone call (I am a firm believer in actually CALLING people), or video chat. Being alone is probably the worst thing to do when you are stressed. I’ve found that getting my friends opinions, catching up on what’s going on in their lives, or just being silly and making reindeer faces at each other, is the best and easiest way to get my mind off of my problems.

The final thing I do to reduce stress is a throwback from my childhood. I love to take a bubble bath! I find that putting on an upbeat music playlist, soaking in a tub filled with sweet smelling bubbles and sipping a glass of wine is an extraordinary way to clear your head and lift your spirits. It’s so relaxing!
