Tria Skin Perfecting Blue Light Acne Treatment Review

Hey! Today we have a guest post from ET. She’s trying out TRIA’s Blue Light Acne system and this is the first of three posts that she’s agreed to do for us. Check it out!

The Tria Blue Light Therapy System

I have suffered from acne breakouts for more than a decade and my new grad school lifestyle (stress, no sleep, lots of caffeine) has left my skin in a state of havoc. When asked me if I would be interested in trying an at-home blue light laser acne treatment I jumped at the chance.  Nothing to loose and clear skin to gain!

For the past two weeks I have been using the TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light.  Though I have tried practically every lotion, potion, device and regime under the sun I have never received laser treatments for my acne. Blue light treatment is a non-UV light therapy that eliminates acne causing bacteria deep within the skin. When the blue light strikes the acne bacteria cells it kills them without affecting the surrounding tissue. When the acne-causing bacteria is eliminated, so are clogged pores and breakouts. When I received my TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light in the mail I wasted no time getting started!

The TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light should be used twice a day for 2 1/2 minutes or once a day for 5 minutes.  I have been using the TRIA Blue Light for five minutes in the evening. It has been a simple addition to my daily routine.  I was a little worried about what the blue light would do to my African American skin but I haven’t had any issues. The “instructions for use” that came with the TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light mention that some users will feel a warmth on their skin. At first I was little afraid my skin might burn but the “heat” is extremely mild. Using the TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light feels like you’re rubbing a glass deodorant stick across your face. The blue light doesn’t activate until it touches your skin. I brought the TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light with me to Las Vegas this weekend and it didn’t activate in my luggage when it was pressed against clothing.

So, you want to see results right? Believe me, so do I. I haven’t had any problems spending five minutes of my day using the TRIA Skin Perfecting Blue Light. I think my skin is less oily but judging by the photos from week 1 and 2, the number of breakouts I have looks about the same. During week 2 my skin “may develop dryness or breakouts” so everything is unfortunately going as planned.  My skin should continue to improve as the weeks go by. I’ll check in again at week 4 and 8.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please leave them in the comments! Fingers crossed for clearer skin. See you in week 4!
