The 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards were held last night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. Although Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are the perfect hosts, I tuned into the awards solely for the red carpet fashion and switched back to my regularly scheduled line-up.
The 2014 Golden Globes red carpet did not disappoint and I had a few loves (best dressed) and some likes (honorable mentions). From Lupita Nyong’o in Ralph Lauren to Caitlin Fitzgerald in Emilia Wickstead, here’s my list!
2014 Golden Globes Red Carpet – Best Dressed
Lupita Nyong’o of 12 Years a Slave, graced the red carpet in this red cape dress from the Ralph Lauren Spring 2014 collection. In the past few months, The “Best Supporting Actress” nominee’s great genes and fashion sense have been taking front stage and her Golden Globes pick will be added to her collection of hits.
Zooey Deschanel looked like a such a lady in her Oscar de La Renta Spring 2014 dress. The New Girl “Best Actress” nominee’s vintage look fit her quirky character.
Taylor Swift gave us old Hollywood glam with her pinned-up curls and black-red Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2014 dress. I just loved the strapless dress with its subtle sweetheart neckline. The “Best Original Song” nominee looked even better onscreen.
My final, red carpet favorite came by way of Caitlin Fitzgerald. The Masters of Sex star was the epitome of retro glam in a powder blue, high-low dress from the Emilia Wickstead Spring 2014 collection. J’adore! High-low dresses were definitely the trend of the evening, on last night’s Golden Globes red carpet.
Now for the 2014 Golden Globes Red Carpet – Honorable Mentions:
“Best Actress” winner, Cate Blanchett, knows how to make an exit! Cate Blanchett’s Armani Prive gown wasn’t your typical backless dress and it was gorgeous.
There were so many memes floating around, concerning Jennifer Lawrence‘s (Best Supporting Actress winner) dress. People wrapped in mattresses with strategically placed belts, side-by-side shots of JLaw and Disney characters–you name it. The joke was on Jennifer Lawrence’s Dior Couture look. If the dress fit better, the American Hustle star would have been A-OK. I do love the potential of the white and black gown, so here it is in the honorable mentions category.
Last, but not least: Kaley Cuoco. The newlywed and star of The Big Bang Theory arrived at the Golden Globes in a Rani Zakhem strapless gown. I really liked Kaley’s dress because it looks like a weathered, watercolor painting. I just wish her hair was styled differently.
So who was on your best dressed or worst dressed list at the Golden Globes?
