I’m pretty sure the tippity top New Year’s Resolution is to get fit. If working out and eating right are foreign to you, sometimes you need a bit of a kickstart to get your momentum flowing. Heck, even if fitness isn’t new to you, slacking off is easy to do. I am–admittedly–sometimes guilty of the latter. However, JCPenney and Dancing with the Stars’ Karina Smirnoff inspired me to stay on track and sweat the pounds away at Wednesday’s “New Year New You” event at the JCP Showroom in NYC.
Instead of going into a seminar environment where fitness and health tips are given, JCPenney showed us that actions sometimes speak louder than words. Karina, who had been dancing and interviewing since 6am, was all smiles when my 5pm class started. Karina looked fit in JCPenney’s Xersion and CityStreets Activewear lines as she led dance classes and juiced healthy treats with JCPenney’s Bella High Power Juice Extractor and Magic Bullet Blender. We did an intense dance workout and boy were we feeling the burn. Oh em gee. (Henry Byalikov from DTWS was also there, teaching alternate dance classes.)
On any other gym day, I would’ve been in my college sweatshirt and regular ol’ leggings. However, JCPenney was kind enough to gift attendees with our favorite activewear picks from their Xersion & CityStreets lines. With compression leggings that have UV protection, motivational tees and lightweight pullovers in my workout arsenal, I’m never going back to my old gym uniform.

After getting our butts, abs and arms whooped in the intense dance class, we headed over to the juice bar. Melissa Petitto, who is a Registered Dietician, was there creating all-natural juices and explaining the nutritional value of each of them. Mango, berries, ginger and apple were just a few of the fresh ingredients that were blended to perfection and served.
The Antioxidant Supreme Bullet Blast was my favorite juice. Luckily, JCPenney sent us home with the Bella Rocket Blender so we could make our own quick & healthy juices. Even though my arms were S-O-R-E after The Karina Experience, I headed to the gym the next night and felt great after an hour of cardio. New Year — New Me!
