No Awkward Conversation Necessary with Bedsider [Sponsored]

You’re probably thinking, “No awkward conversation necessary? What’s that about?” So let’s jump right into it. I’m talking about BC, formally known as birth control. Since the majority of O So Chic readers are women, this topic may be near and dear to you.

So how does this BC conversation arise? First comes the “birds and the bees” talk. At some point after the pollination chat, there may have been an awkward attempt at talking about birth control. It may have been with your mother, grandmother or in a packed health class classroom. Although I don’t recall having this chat in any of the above situations, I’m sure it’s at the top of the most embarrassing moments list. The least awkward birth control discussion may be with your girlfriends, but that conversation is usually limited to personal gripes about side effects and missed doses. Not many facts there!

On one of my favorite TV shows,  an entire episode was dedicated to a teenage daughter sheepishly announcing her desire to go on the pill. While the topic was serious, the mother’s reaction was priceless and the informative episode stayed true to its comedic air. That approach is similar to what Bedsider.org is doing.

Bedsider.org (Bedsider) is an online birth control support network for women 18-29 operated by The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, a private non-profit organization.

Alas, there is a way to get around embarrassing conversations and awkward preachy moments. Bedsider.org, with its cheeky PSAs and slightly humorous approach, seeks to remove the taboo of learning about a lady’s birth control options. The Bedsider site includes interactive guides, real stories, answers to frequently asked questions and the nitty gritty on every option imaginable–including “self-control.” Heck, Bedsider.org even lets you sign up for pill, patch replacement and doctor’s appointment reminders!

How much does Bedsider access cost? The invaluable resources on Bedsider.org are all free. So which would you prefer: a site that answers the questions you  have and dispels misconceptions or a situation like this…

?

Lol!
