Review of Angela’s Hair Studio: NYC Mobile Salon Experience

Don’t you wish you had the convenience of getting your hair professionally done in the comfort of your home? Angela’s Hair Studio does just that! The NYC-based mobile hair studio brings the salon experience to you. Today’s guest review is from Nadia, who had the opportunity to try the Angela’s experience.

It’s not every day that an ordinary girl living in New York City has the luxury of a full-service hair salon coming to her home and doing her hair for her. But that’s exactly what the stylists at Angela’s Hair Studio do. It’s a mobile hair service that installs and styles your extensions in the comfort of your own home.

I had an extension install with Angela’s last week and I have to admit, I was a little apprehensive about letting a stranger into my little apartment in the Brooklyn sky. But when my stylist Imani arrived, she was the picture of professionalism. She walked in, greeted me, asked where she could set up, and got to work. She arrived on time and within 15 minutes of her arrival I was in the chair getting braided up.

Imani used three bundles of virgin, Brazilian wavy hair for my install, which Angela’s provides (with purchase, of course). Before my appointment, the salon asked what type of hair and styling I would like. The choices ranged from straight to curly and all of the bundles are 100% human, virgin hair. Of course, when I heard that there was a hair service that comes into your home, I pictured something very Keeping Up with the Kardashians-esque. The stylist would be dressed in all black and all of her supplies would match and she’d bring a huge mirror and sit me in front of it and everything she used would have an “Angela’s Hair Studio” stamp on it. Unrealistic, I know. The reality was that Imani arrived with hair and supplies, but very little pomp and circumstance. She was dressed very casually and her supplies were obviously self-bought.

If I did have one recommendation, I’d say the salon should do more to make their clients feel like they’re getting a special, luxury service. The fact is, what Angela’s is providing is remarkably unique, affordable, and convenient. Uniformity, even if just with smocks and supplies, would go a long way.

That said, Imani actually did a great job – much better than my usual stylist. The hair is obviously quality and her styling was impeccable. What the company lacks in luxury, it more than makes up for in talent and ability. When she came over I looked a little like a 12-year-old boy and by the time she left I was a grown woman (cues Beyonce).

Thanks to Angela’s Hair Studio for a unique experience, voluminous locks, and great service. I would recommend it to my friends a million times over.
