I was making my social media rounds a few weeks ago and saw the cutest “movies in the backyard” idea. Granted, the attendees were all under the age of 5 and sitting in cardboard cars, but I wanted to do that! I immediately shared the image with friends and told them that we needed to recreate the drive-in in the driveway idea–or at least have our own outdoor movies night.
I love the idea of hosting friends and prepping for the occasion. Whatever the reason for us coming together, it’s guaranteed to be a great time! While the colorful cardboard cars are still in the idea phase, I decided that we could kick off November and the end of Daylight Savings Time with a simple-yet-fun evening of movies in my backyard. I sent out movie night invitations and, a week later, and Movies with Mela was in full swing.
With fall foliage as our backdrop, the only treat we needed was freshly popped popcorn. I laid out popcorn bags, overflowing with buttery Orville Redenbacher’s Popcorn for my guests to enjoy. To keep the movie theatre theme going, everyone received admission tickets. I thought a few boxes of Orville Redenbacher’s Popcorn would’ve been enough, but I underestimated the power of this popcorn. During the movie, I actually had to dip into my personal stash and pop more Orville Redenbacher’s Popcorn for my eager and hungry guests. Since it only take a few minutes for the Orville Redenbacher’s Popcorn kernels to turn into light, fluffy and buttery popcorn, I didn’t miss out on key parts of the movie.
Our movie night ended just before sunset and everyone went about their merry way. I’m looking forward to the next outdoor movie night with my friends. Perhaps our cardboard cars (and outdoor heating lamps) will make an appearance then! 😉
