Lady Gaga and Beyonce Telephone Video

[ Thursday, March 11, 2010 | 1 comments ]
What do you get when you mix two of the world's biggest pop stars, prison, a roadside diner and Kill Bill? Well, the answer is the highly anticipated video for Telephone, Lady Gaga's single featuring Beyonce. Lady Gaga never ceases to shock and awe and with the help of director Jonas Akerlund the singer took the fun, dance track and gave it some edge. Who would've ever thought they'd see Beyonce and a reference to Kill Bill's assassin Beatrix Kiddo in the same video? I love that Gaga got Beyonce to give her "good girl" image a rest for a few minutes.

Since Lady Gaga and Beyonce are two of our favorite fashionistas there's no surprise that the styling is just phenomenal. I'm not a smoker but Gaga's cigarette shades are smoking (pun intended) and Beyonce's shredded hot pants are the stuff summers on the beach are made of.

What do you think? Is the video chic or not so chic?

2010 Oscar Awards Red Carpet Beauty Recap

[ Monday, March 8, 2010 | 0 comments ]
The Oscars, the most anticipated show of awards season, took place last night. Inside the theatre, the focus was on who would win the coveted, little gold statue. Outside, on the red carpet, fashion & style were the focal point. Cascading curls & loose updos, subtle makeup & bright lips were some of the trends we saw at this year's Academy Awards.

Best Actress winner, Sandra Bullock, wore a bright fuchsia lip, which added a touch of color to her dazzling Oscar gold dress. Best Actress nominee Vera Farmiga, who was already floating in fuchsia ruffles, brought the same color to her lips.

Nicole Richie wore one of the edgier makeup looks of the night. Her already striking eyes, popped with  grey shadow in her crease & winged eyeliner. Miley Cyrus complemented a gorgeous dress with subtle makeup. Peachy-pink lips and luscious lashes kept the look soft & feminine. Kate Winslet kept her makeup very simple as well, but made a statement with her Hollywood glam, coifed hair. Winslet's romantic, side-swept curls gave her a very classic & flattering look.

What were some of your favorite beauty looks from the Oscars?

2010 Oscar Awards Red Carpet Fashion Recap

[ Sunday, March 7, 2010 | 5 comments ]
In the words Dwight Eubanks of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, there were a lot of "fashions" on the red carpet of the 82nd annual Oscar Awards. Many of them were misses but we're going to focus on the hits. After all, this is "your destination for everything chic."
Judging from last night's looks, shoulders are the sexiest body parts in Hollywood this year and many actresses showed that off in strapless gowns. Rachel McAdams wore a printed number, with a sweetheart neckline, by Elie Saab Haute Couture. Teen star Miley Cyrus looked fabulous in a gold Jenny Packham. I don't believe I've ever said that about the teen before, but I must give credit where it's due. Jennifer Lopez showed up in a huge, iridescent pink, Armani Privé piece. There was a big debate about this look on Twitter, but I like it. Others may have gotten lost under the fabric but the gown was a great fit on Lopez' curvaceous body. Anna Kendrick, a Best Supporting Actress nominee for her role in "Up in the Air" also wore Elie Saab. The actress said the dress was a last minute decision, and what a pretty, pink, choice it was.
Vera Farmiga, another "Up in the Air" star and Best Supporting Actress nominee, turned heads in a bold red, ruffled Marchesa gown. It was easily one of the most glamourous looks of the night. Also in ruffles was Elizabeth Banks, who wore Versace.
Never one to follow trends, Meryl Streep walked the carpet another in another Chris March creation. The Project Runway runner up designed a long sleeved, white gown with a plunging neckline for the Best Actress nominee. Meryl looked great and what an accomplishment for March to see one of his gowns at the Oscars, on Meryl Streep no less.

Those are my picks for the best Oscar fashions. Do you agree or do you think my picks were "not so chic." Who got your stamp of approval?

Fashion Week | Davidelfin Fall 2010

[ Wednesday, March 3, 2010 | 0 comments ]

The square set of Bimba Bose's jaw as she emerged from the smoke and made her way down the runway to Bjork's "Sod Off" set the somber tone of the Davidelfin Fall 2010 show. Yellow and fuschia provided the only pops of color in the collection full of black, gray and white.

Though the collection featured both men's and women's clothing, it had a decidedly masculine feel and Bose's short carrot-colored hair and androgynous look provided a striking canvas for the first look. The idea of a fine tailored suit made it's way into almost every look. Even a floor length dress, with it's structured shoulder details, held a hint of the suiting. Designer David Delfin occasionally played up the feminine form, showing off the models legs in mini dresses and skirts.

I got a great view of the collection from my front row seat. I still can't get over it. Eeek! Have I mentioned how much I love those yellow Christian Louboutin booties?
