Super Bowl Sunday is a day away! The night of commercials, wings, rivalry, revelry and of course – football will soon descend upon us. As usual, I don’t know where I’ll be watching the Giants v. Patriots, but I do have my blanket, Trader Joe’s spinach artichoke dip and blue chips handy in case I take the house party route. Motions Naturally You Luncheon Recap


In a scene similar to the one where Bernie gets her hair cut off in Waiting to Exhale, I walked in to a salon a year and a half ago and cut my shoulder length tresses in to a pixie. I hated the end result so I started wearing weaves.  I allowed the back to grow natural, while perming the “leave-out” in the front. Finally, I decided I wanted to go completely natural and I began transitioning. I haven’t mastered the perfect twist out yet, so I’ve been wearing my super straight wig, Belinda, out.

I talked to a few natural friends and they recommended products that were upwards of $40 dollars. I can’t fathom spending that much money on hair products, so I was happy when I was given the chance to try out Motions’ new collection, Naturally You, aimed at women who are natural or going natural. Living Single in NYC

I was catching up with an old friend when it dawned on us that most of the people we grew up with are getting married and settling down. Every day someone announces an engagement or shows off a baby bump. We’re at that age when the kids we grew up with begin to have families of their own. Before I get to that stage, I wanted to try living on my own in NYC. That’s why I moved out of my mom’s house and into my own apartment at the top of the year.
